A review of the Incorporated Societies Act of 1908 began in 2010, and Trust Waikato submitted on the Law Commission’s Issues Paper in 2011. After considering feedback and reporting to Government, an Incorporated Societies Bill Exposure Draft, setting out the goals for the replacement Act, was released at the end of 2015. Formal consultation began in early 2016.
Trust Waikato has submitted on the Incorporated Societies Bill Exposure Draft. The Trust is generally in support of the Bill, but recognises the increasing burden of compliance placed on the non-profit sector through recent legislative changes.
